Osimhen, Etebor Scoop CAF Young Players Awards

Golden Eaglets striker, Victor Osimhen, has been named Africa’s best Youth Player for the year 2015.

Osimhen outclassed compatriot, Kelechi Nwakali, Mali pair of Adama Traore and Samuel Diarra and Yaw Yeboah of Ghana to win the award.

Osimhen set a new goal scoring record of 10 goals at the last FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile as Nigeria won a record fifth title.

Warri Wolves striker, Oghenekaro Etebor, was awarded the most promising talent for his exploit at the 2015 CAF U-23 Championship in Senegal where he finished as top scorer.

Etebor defeated compatriot, Azubuike Okechukwu, Mali’s Djigui Diarra, Mahmoud Abdelmonem of Egypt and Zinedine Ferhat of Algeria to clinch the award.

FC Barcelona Lassa got off to a wining start in the Euroleague Top16 stage, seeing off the challenge of BC Khimki 87-70 at Palau Blaugrana.

Aware of the game's importance, Xavi Pascual's side began the game with a well-drilled backline and fine accuracy outside the area. Three consecutive three-pointers – one from Perperoglou and two from Navarro – set the tone of the match from early on. A basket from Shane Lawal saw the Catalans end the first quarter 23-16.

A treble midway through the second quarter put Barça 34-20. The inspired form of Navarro, the presence of Tomic and a late basket from Satoransky gave the home side a healthy 20-point lead (49-29) going into half-time.

The visitors put in a better showing in the third quarter, but their poor accuracy from distance ultimately proved costly, with just one in 13 attempts successful. The Palau was treated to a fine show in the last quarter with a treble from Pau Ribas as well as dunks by Lawal, Samuels and Tomic to kill off the match.

After this victory, Barça Lassa will play four consecutive games away from home. The next European challenge for Xavi Pascual's side will be against CSKA, on Thursday 14 January.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described his wife, Feyisetan, as a great source of support and God's grace he enjoys as a politician and the leader of the current administration in the state. In a congratulatory message by the governor today Thursday Jan. 7th to mark his wife's 52nd birthday, Fayose described his wife as the positive force behind his political successes.

According to a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said of his wife,

"She has distinguished herself as a role model. A person who believes in modesty and totally reserved. "Her‎ prayer life has made a difference and has impacted positively on me. Any woman that marries a man like me, who is generally seen to be fearless and courageous and who is vulnerable to attacks by political opponents, cannot afford not to have a woman with her sterling qualities as wife. Only a virtuous, Godly and resolute woman like her have what it takes to stand firm in the face of attacks. "I appreciate her as she adds another year and also appreciate her care for our children. God has brought her to this kingdom at this auspicious time when many supposed men of honour have disappeared into the thin air. "I want to assure her that her labour of love will not be in vain. She is a woman to emulate for her modesty and inspiring and fervent prayer life and only her can be an ideal wife for a man like me," he said.

Governor Fayose wished her many more glorious and fulfilling years on earth and prayed for more bliss in their marriage.

Family 'Lived Alongside Rotting Corpse Of 7-Year-Old Son For A Month'

A family allegedly spent a month eating and sleeping next to the rotting corpse of their seven-year-old son. The mother and father have now been arrested by police who believe they spent up to four weeks living alongside the body.

Spanish police found the pair, along with their two teenage daughters, in the same room as the dead boy after letting themselves into their rented home in Girona in north east Spain with a key given to them by the landlady.

Investigators are awaiting the results of a post-mortem to confirm their suspicions the youngster died of an illness.

The Mossos d'Esquadra confirmed the couple, named locally as Americans Bruce and Schrell Hopkins, were being held on suspicion of manslaughter.

A spokesman, who declined to officially name them, said: "The parents of the youngster found dead in Girona have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

"The detainees, American nationals aged 38 and 39, will be handed over to an investigating judge in the coming days.

"The investigation to clarify the circumstances of the youngster's death remains open."

The boy, who has not been named, was found dead on Tuesday after failed attempts by the owner of the property to speak to engineer Mr Hopkins and his wife about several months of unpaid rent.

Police discovered the parents sat with their two daughters aged 15 and 13 next to his body when they returned to gain access to the property.

Local reports said they had moved mattresses from their bedrooms into the youngster's room and spent more than a month living next to his decomposing body.

The teenage girls were taken into care and their parents taken away for a psychiatric examination before being taken into custody.

Respected Catalan daily El Periodico said the main theory being probed was that the youngster fell ill and his parents tried to cure him themselves with alternative medicine.

Dortmund and Gabon player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has won the 2015 GLO-CAF African Footballer Of The Year award .The Gabonese winger beat Andre Ayew of Ghana (Swansea) and Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast(Man City) . Man City's Yaya Toure came second while Ayew came third.

The winner was decided by votes from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The ceremony that took place in Abuja tonight was attended by football and Music stars and personalities from the African continent

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon/ Borussia Dortmund has won the 2015 GLO-CAF African Footballer Of The Year award after beating competition from Andre Ayew of Swansea/Ghana and Yaya Toure of Man City/Ivory Coast. Yaya Toure came second while Ayew came third.

The winner was decided by votes from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The ceremony that took place in Abuja tonight was attended by football and Music stars and personalities from the African continent.

The award nicknamed the Oscars of African football is organized annually to appreciate African footballers and coaches who have done well in the sport in the last calendar.

Reuters: Iran stops doing business with Saudi Arabia as Nimr execution rankles

Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia deteriorated even further on Thursday as Tehran severed all commercial ties with Riyadh and accused Saudi jets of attacking its embassy in Yemen's capital.

A row has been raging for days between Shi'ite Muslim power Iran and the conservative Sunni kingdom since Saudi Arabia executed cleric Nimr al-Nimr, an opponent of the ruling dynasty who demanded greater rights for the Shi'ite minority.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Sudan, Djibouti and Somalia have all broken off diplomatic ties with Iran this week, the United Arab Emirates downgraded its relations and Kuwait, Qatar and Comoros recalled their envoys after the Saudi embassy in Tehran was stormed by protesters following the execution of Nimr and 46 other men.

Pork Loin Shaped Like P*nis Gives Mum A Shock As She Shopped For Her Sunday Roast

A mum shopping for her Sunday roast got a shock when she came across this pork loin shaped like a p*nis. Louise Watt, unwittingly picked up the phallic meat on one of her regular visits to Sainsbury's in Northampton, Northamptonshire, on Sunday.

It was only when she returned home to prepare the meal with her husband, Jack, that she noticed how rude it looked.

Full-time mum Louise said that while the adults in the kitchen were in stitches at the shape of the slab, her children were wondering why they were taking pictures of dinner.

Louise, 36, said: "When you're shopping with a six-year-old and a two-year-old, you just want to get in and out of the supermarket. I checked to make sure it was a good colour and in date, but that was about it. I took no notice of the shape at the time. I took it out of the fridge later on and just burst out laughing. It's really quite rude. The colour certainly helps. It's pretty realistic. We don't normally have a traditional Sunday dinner so it was a bit of a treat for us. The kids looked a bit baffled that we were taking a picture of our dinner. I put it on my Facebook page and it attracted quite a reaction. Most of the comments were too rude to print. A lot of people were asking me if I was satisfied or if I could 'taste the difference'. It was very nice I have to say. I have no complaints. We had it with the usual potatoes and veg and everyone enjoyed it."

Louise said the 473g Taste the Difference Outdoor Reared British Pork Tenderloin Fillet - priced at £5.68 - didn't look quite as naughty when it had been roasted. And she said she would be more vigilante next time she plucked an item from the fresh meat aisle.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives has assured that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will continue to receive FG's attention until the war against the Boko Haram insurgents is completely over.

Hon. Yakubu Dogara gave the assurance on Thursday shortly after donating relief materials to the victims of the insurgency at the IDP camps in Wassa on the outskirt of Abuja.

He said that the recent appointments of people from the region by the Federal Government to head agencies responsible for the security of the region was a deliberate effort to curb the menace.

Hon Dogara also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing some of the service chiefs from the region, restating that the issues of the IDPs would always be in the front burner.

In company of the Speaker, the Chairman of House Committee on IDPs, Rep. Muhammed Zorro and another legislator, Rep. Agbonayinman Johnson, also appealed to the government to continue to provide for their welfare.
